What if school introduced you to exciting new possibilities and you got to choose what to learn? What if school was a place where you could be yourself? What if school was joyful? What if school was kind? |
Global Village School, A Leader in the Field of Homeschooling Support Since 1999
Welcome!
Global Village School offers a progressive, accredited, customizable K-8 and high school homeschool diploma program. Students work with online and text-based curriculum and receive individualized teacher services. Our high school homeschool curriculum integrates peace, justice, and diversity studies with the core subjects. We are an international school; we welcome homeschool students from around the globe.
What sets us apart from other schools? Our creative and flexible approach, along with our emphasis on peace, justice, diversity and sustainability. We recognize students as individuals with unique needs, interests, and learning styles. We work to adapt our homeschool curriculum to our students, rather than forcing students to adapt to the curriculum. Our students are able to prepare for college or whatever else they desire while building on their strengths and talents and staying true to who they are. We work to nurture and protect the passion and enthusiasm for creating a better world that comes naturally to so many young people. Our students learn how to lead authentic and meaningful lives, leaving school feeling confident in their ability to make an impact on the world around them.
A wide variety of families and groups have found our homeschool curriculum values to be compatible with theirs, such as Buddhists, Unitarian Universalists, families with Indigo children, secular homeschoolers, families that have enjoyed Montessori schools, Waldorf schools, and so on. We also partner with homeschooling groups and people starting schools. For those who prefer to work on their own, we can provide curriculum without enrollment.

"Global Village School has been such a blessing for our family. The main reason why we homeschool our daughter is because we don’t feel that the environment in most public schools is consistent with the way we raise our kids. We put a lot of effort into creating a loving and supportive atmosphere, and feel sending Luna to public school would only work against us in that respect...We want her to always be curious. To always strive to learn more about the things that are important to us and most importantly, to her. To be the kind of person that stands up for what she thinks is right. And above all, to live her life in a way that honors what is in her heart."

How is GVS Compatible With Your Homeschooling Family?
There are many families out there looking for better educational opportunities for their children. At the same time, the idea of homeschooling can be daunting. How do you wade through the many homeschool resource sites claiming to be your one-stop guide? Whether you're new to the concept or an experienced homeschooler, our homeschool-private school hybrid approach is an ideal way to marry the freedom and flexibility you seek with the structure and support of experienced educators.
We understand that certain basic needs must be met before students can really absorb themselves in learning - it's hard to focus on school when students are being bullied for being LGBT. We believe that school should be interesting, fun, relevant to each student's life, and respectful of who they are in their heart and soul. We also feel that it should provide them with the skills and information they need to become responsible and compassionate human beings and caretakers of our planet.
We know that children want to learn and will do so on their own, provided they are in a safe environment and have the appropriate materials from which to choose. Global Village students work at their own pace and are encouraged to collaborate with their teachers to customize the curriculum to match their unique interests and needs. By providing a nurturing environment, we can cultivate a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
We believe it is vitally important to recognize and respect the individual personality of each student. If our curriculum is not working for a particular student, we do not blame the child, but work with the family to come up with a solution. Global Village has several courses with themes that are relevant to the LGBTQ+ youth, including Coming of Age, Literature of Diversity and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Literature.
