Language Arts

Spelling
(weblink) – Day-by-day lessons or you can edit for needs and interests.
This is a great spelling program for visual-picture learners. There are no long lists of words to learn. Star will be able to choose his own words.

Writing

This is truly a step by step writing program. Decks of cards are dealt out to allow the student to take one step at a time to create a piece of writing. Starts with writing a paragraph and moves to a five paragraph essay by the end of the year.

Reading
Free reading: About one book per month of his choice. Since he enjoys explaining things, make time to listen to him talk about what he is reading. Take trips to the library to select books, if possible.

Also, Read to Star. These could be longer, more difficult books than he would choose for himself.

This is a large book illustrated with cartoons. It is full of practical information about how many things we take for granted work, i.e., electricity, microwave ovens, etc. Star could study one of these a day and teach someone what he has learned.

Star can make his own scrapbook of the area where you live.
