We have added these links so that we can share them with the thousands of visitors to our site who share our vision for creating a better world.

The Education Revolution - a non-profit organization founded in 1989 by education expert Jerry Mintz to advance learner-centered approaches to education.

Educators for Social Responsibility - Numerous resources for teaching children of different ages. Foundation for Educational Renewal - The Foundation for Educational Renewal, Inc, is a nonprofit 501c(3) organization set up in 1998 to publish Paths of Learning magazine and promote alternative perspectives on teaching, learning, and human development. The Foundation is not affiliated with any institution, partisan interest group, or particular educational movement, but aims to stimulate dialogue and build bridges among diverse educators, parents, scholars, policymakers, and citizens who seek more democratic, holistic, student-centered forms of education.

GLSEN (Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network) - "Teaching respect for all in our schools."

Justice Learning - A collaboration of NPRís Justice Talking and the New York Times Learning Network, Justice Learning presents lessons and resources for "civic education in the real world." Covers topics such as civil liberties, gun control, the death penalty, affirmative action, juvenile justice, etc.

NAME (National Association for Multicultural Education) - Advocates for educational equity and social justice.

NCEA (National Coalition of Education Activists) - a multiracial network and membership organization of parents, school staff, union and community activists, and children's advocates working for equitable and excellent public schools.

NCACS - The National Coalition of Alternative Community Schools - Our mission is to unite and organize a grassroots movement of learners and learning communities dedicated to participant control, liberation from all forms of oppression, and the pursuit of freedom.

The New Press - operating in the public interest rather than for private gain, is committed to providing educators and students with books and resources that reflect a diversity of interests, backgrounds, and cultures.

The New York Times Learning Network - News summaries, lesson plans and teacher resources, in-depth information on current issues.

PathsofLearning.net - Effective Strategies for Teachers and Parents Seeking Meaning in Education

Peace Jam - international education program built around leading Nobel Peace Laureates who work personally with youth to pass on the spirit, skills, and wisdom they embody. The goal of PeaceJam is to inspire a new generation of peacemakers who will transform their local communities, themselves and the world.

Reflective Educational Perspectives. - Information and products based on the Learning Style Model of Education which helps adults and children discover their unique learning needs.

Rethinking Schools Online - Many valuable links including articles on Americaís "war on terrorism," the Middle East situation, etc.

Teaching for Change/Network of Educators on the Americas - One of the best sites on teaching about Sept. 11 and the "war against terrorism." Excellent articles, links to other important sites, resource suggestions, etc. They also have a wonderful catalog of books, videos and other resources for teaching social justice and diversity.

Teaching Tolerance - An excellent site with resources for parents, teachers, teens, and children. A Web project of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Tolerance.org encourages people from all walks of life to "fight hate and promote tolerance."

Ashay - A nonprofit organization located in Southern California. They promote the understanding and appreciation of human differences through the development and distribution of educational resources and programs.

Beyond Pesticides - Beyond Pesticides (formerly National Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides) works with allies in protecting public health and the environment to lead the transition to a world free of toxic pesticides.

Bruderhof Peacemakers Guide - Anyone can be a peacemaker. The Bruderhof Peacemakers Guide was created to inspire and empower you to work for peace, and to arm you with
living proof of the power of nonviolence to effect change and resolve conflicts. Some of the peacemakers featured on this website are famous, others obscure, but all have dedicated their lives to building a more peaceful and just world through nonviolent means. Oregon PeaceWorks - Their mission: To educate and activate people to work for peace, justice and environmental protection.

Peace Brigades - (PBI) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) which protects human rights and promotes nonviolent transformation of conflicts. When invited, PBI sends teams of volunteers into areas of repression and conflict. The volunteers accompany human rights defenders, their organizations and others threatened by political violence. Perpetrators of human rights abuses usually do not want the world to witness their actions. The presence of volunteers backed by a support network helps to deter violence. PBI creates space for local activists to work for social justice and human rights. Currently, PBI has volunteers protecting human rights activists in Colombia, Indonesia, and Mexico, as well as a project restarting in Guatemala and a joint project with other organizations in Chiapas, Mexico..

Peace Takes Courage - Ava Lowery is the 16 year old peace activist from Alabama behind the website, PeaceTakesCourage.com, and has received an amazing amount of attention. Ava's animations show the multidimensional tragedy of the Iraq war- losses of brave young soldiers to American families, and loss of innocent civilians in Iraq.

PEACEIncorporated - Primary focus is on increasing peace by providing youth empowered solutions and alternatives to destructive behavior.

Peaceworks Network - Israelis, Palestinians, and Americans working to amplify the moderate voices in the middle east.

AlterNet - a project of the Independent Media Institute. Includes some of the best alternative points of view on social issues, including special coverage of the "war against terrorism." Drawn from various publications.

altpress.org - clearinghouse of progressive views on the Net.

Clamor Magazine - Progressive, alternative media with a grassroots focus.

Common Dreams News Center - Breaking news and views from the progressive community. Pulling from both wire services and a plethora of progressive magazines and Web sites, Common Dreams is one of the best online sources for alternative news and views.

Democracy Now - Democracy Now! is a national, listener-sponsored public radio and TV show, pioneering the largest community media collaboration in the country.

Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting - Excellent articles critiquing media coverage of current events. Good links.

Independent Media Center - The CNN of movements for social justice, IndyMedia has resources for linking the current crisis to issues of global inequality.

KPFK - Alternative radio.

Media Channel - Launched recently by former ABC News producer Danny Schechter, this global media and democracy supersite has pulled together nearly 600 affiliate publications and nonprofit media-issues groups from around the world. Together, they provide incisive, independent analysis of everything from the U.S. election to the battle for control of Czech public TV.

TrueMajority- Started by Ben Cohen, cofounder of Ben and Jerry's, The TrueMajority campaign provides a way to make your voice heard in Congress.

Opentracker- While not directly involved in activism, the folks at Opentracker generously offer their website stat tracking and analysis services free of charge to a number of charities and non-profits (like Global Village School!). In their words, the goal of Opentracker's philanthropic activities is to "make technology widely available and contribute positively with our own resources."
