Global Village School Partners Program

Support for New Schools and Homeschooling Groups

As anyone in the process of starting a new school knows, it is a lot of work! The pressure to get up and running is there long before there is time to put all the pieces into place. Children are may be suffering in schools that are not able to meet their needs, and parents are anxious to find a better alternative.

To create a full program – including teachers, curriculum in a wide range of subjects, record-keeping procedures such as transcripts, etc. -- can take many years. It takes time and energy to get a program accredited and build a strong reputation. As an established accredited distance learning program, Global Village School (GVS) has invested a substantial amount of time and resources into creating a strong infrastructure, which includes a K-8 curriculum, a full high school curriculum, and a group of dedicated, conscientious, and compassionate teachers. Knowing the challenges of getting a school program up and running, the team at Global Village is excited to be able to offer its resources to new schools, as well as to homeschool groups.

With Global Village's support, people with the vision, passion, and courage to start a new school no longer have to tell parents to wait. By contracting with Global Village's School Partners Program, new schools and homeschooling groups can offer their families what they need right away. Global Village can provide a full program, be the official school of record (includes official records, transcripts, and diploma upon completion of graduation requirements) and provide full curriculum and teacher support. Or, we can “fill in the gaps” in those cases where a school or group might only need a few courses and a limited amount of teacher support, or perhaps might need some consulting, or want to use our learning styles profile and/or have us design individualized curriculum for their students.

How it works:

Just as Global Village individualizes curriculum for its students, it also works with each individual partner school in a different way. For example, a school in the Dominican Republic had a full academic program, but was very interested in GVS's “Intro to Peace and Diversity Studies” course. As they did not have any instructors on site who could teach it, partnering with Global Village enabled them to offer a valuable learning experience to their students in an affordable way. The Full Circle Teen School, an exciting “young” school on the California coast, has a wonderful cultural mentoring and outdoor education model. Full Circle partners with Global Village for transcripts and record-keeping. You can hear more about the Full Circle Global Village partnership below:

School Down Under (SDU), a semester-abroad program in New Zealand, created a spectacular experiential program for their students, as well as a strong and engaging academic program. Being based outside of the U.S., they were not able to issue American transcripts, which many of their students needed in order to receive credit for their work upon their return to their original schools in the United States. SDU also wanted to broaden their course offerings by drawing classes from the GVS curriculum such as Economics, Literature of Diversity, and the Buddhist Path to Peace. Partnering with Global Village made it possible for SDU to offer their students a once-in-a-lifetime experience while ensuring that the students could stay on track academically.

Partnering with Global Village School can occur in many different ways. Using Global Village's curriculum allows an alternative school or homeschooling group to immediately present a much wider range of course offerings, rather than having to create each course from scratch. Having Global Village teachers work with some students also gives schools much greater flexibility. Rather than limiting course offerings to those which the majority of the students want or need to take, through Global Village a new private school can offer many additional courses, even if only one or two students want to take them. In addition, Global Village School has a proven track record of placing graduates in a number of different colleges. Students from partner schools using GVS's “dual enrollment program” have the option of having their courses listed on a Global Village transcript and having Global Village submit the transcript to colleges of their choice. They can choose to receive a Global Village diploma or a diploma from their “home school,” or both.

Partner school students also have the opportunity to take Global Village's learning styles profile, which provides valuable insights to parents, teachers, and the students themselves. It is a helpful tool that can be used to personalize the academic program to meet each student's individual interests, needs, and learning style. Personalized curriculum consultations are also available to partner school families through Global Village. Students can also earn credit for many different life learning experiences and activities by documenting them with Global Village's Elective Portfolios. All of these offerings are available to both the partner school's day school students as well as any homeschoolers they may be working with.

The Global Village School Partners Program allows young schools to provide their families with a multitude of options for a much lower price than if they were to create it all on their own. Being able to keep costs down enables more students to benefit from all that the vision of a new start-up school or group has to offer, without having to wait.
