K-8 Program: General Info

Global Village School is an accredited school based in southern California and founded in 1999. It is a distance learning program, which means that students study at home (or, in special cases, at learning centers). Students are in regular contact with their teachers. They send their work via regular mail or e-mail, and can also contact their teachers by phone or meet in person if they live nearby.

How does the Global Village K-8 homeschooling program work?

Our standard school year runs from September to June. However, students can enroll at any time of the year and can continue working through the summer if they wish. When you enroll in Global Village School you become part of a legal private school. We will maintain all student records, along with providing written semester evaluations, a yearly transcript, and a diploma upon high school graduation.

Each K-8 student is assigned one Global Village teacher. Our teachers are knowledgeable, compassionate, supportive, and committed to the vision of the school. You can contact our teachers by phone, fax, and e-mail, or schedule in-person appointments if you live in the local area. Along with regularly scheduled appointments, teachers are happy to answer questions when they arise. Students are free to work at their own pace and to collaborate with their teachers in customizing the curriculum to match their unique interests and needs.

Each family will work with an enrollment advisor to design the most appropriate program for the year. The advisor will be available throughout the year to answer questions and provide support.

Call our office to make a phone or in-person appointment with one of our educational advisors, who will enroll your family, help you select a curriculum, answer your questions, and provide you with additional information. You can learn more about the enrollment and payment process on our how to enroll page.

How much does the K-8 program cost?

Rather than setting a standard fee for everyone, we have set up our system so that families only pay for what they need.

All enrolled students pay the following each year:

Curriculum costs that vary according to grade level or curriculum option and
Tuition fee that varies according to grade level and level of teacher support. Please note that tuition covers a 10 month (year long enrollment) or 5 month (semester long enrollment) period OR completion of a grade level, whichever comes first.

Sales tax (CA residents only) and shipping and handling are additional.

Examples of typical enrolled student costs can be found on the curriculum and tuition pages.

All fees are in U.S. dollars.

What if I only want to purchase K-8 curriculum?

Some families are experienced unschoolers/homeschoolers who don't need teacher support. If you're interested in using our study guides in this way, please visit our buy curriculum only page.

I got mine about 3 weeks ago and the books about 1 week ago and we LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! What a fantastic, well thought out curriculum!!! It works perfectly for our particular brand of unschooling. Thanks GVS!!! You've added so much dimension to our learning experience. - Cian Sawyer
